  David Woodard, Jr.

David C. Woodard, Jr. has been Director of Bands for Irmo High School since June 2005 and was the Director of Bands at Irmo Middle School from 1983-2005. In addition, he serves as Instrumental Director of the South Carolina Tri-District Consortium for the Arts, and as soloist/section leader (vocal) for the Shandon Presbyterian Church, Columbia, SC. Mr. Woodard was chosen teacher of the year for the 1997-98 school year.
As such he serves on various advisory committees for Richland/Lexington School District Five such as the Faculty Advisory Committee and Auditorium Study Committee.  Professional memberships include MENC, SCBDA, NBA, ASBDA, and Phi Beta Mu. His former teaching duties have included assignments at Alice Drive Middle School, Sumter, SC, and Irmo Middle School-Campus I.

Mr. Woodard is a graduate of the University of South Carolina having earned both his BME and MME under the leadership of James Copenhaver. While an undergraduate, he served three years as Drum Major of the Carolina Band and as president of the South Carolina MENC student division.
