Dear Band Families,
It is hard to believe just a few short days until band camp begins and the
beginning to another great Marching season. Just a few reminders, some
information, and some needs that we have.
1. Our new director Mr. Simpson has now been in place since July 1st
and is already settling in to the Irmo family. If you need to reach him
for any student concerns his Irmo email is up and running at
rsimpson@lex5.k12.sc.us as always for any booster concerns please continue to
email me.
2. Thursday night music practice has begun and will continue for the next 2
Thursday's this is a great time for your student to meet Mr Simpson in the band
room at 6:30 pm.
3. Band camp:
Please send an
email to Alice Jones who is working to secure parents for working band camp
throughout each day of camp. We need volunteers from 8:00 am to 8:30 pm
she can be reached at ajhorton@bellsouth,net or you may leave a
message on her home phone at 732-1359.
We will also be
feeding the students everyday, if you would like to sponsor a meal or know of a
restaurant who would be willing to donate a meal please contact Ray bullock at
r4319bull@aol.com the cost is about $2.00 per student and we will have a little
over 100 students.
Your student
will need a water bottle, sun screen, bug spray (we hope not), apron form last
year, side walk chalk, instrument, forms turned in, and most importantly good
comfortable tennis shoes. The more outside activity they have before band
camp the easier it will be.
4. Garage sale and pancake breakfast is July 30th from 7:00 am to
11:00 am. Please email Susan Robertson at martyandsusan@att.net to reserve
a table for your family or to volunteer to work the general fund table, many
hands make light work. If you have large items to donate please call
407-9357 and leave a message, I will call to make arrangements for them to be

We would like to have a work day on Saturday, July
9th for 2 to 3 hours to start getting things ready. We
can start around 7:30 AM before it gets to hot and get some things done. I was
also thinking we could work Tuesday and Thursday evenings next week to
try and finish up all that can be done prior to the start of camp. Please
let Mel Love know if you can help on any of these days at
