We have now had our first taste of competition, and received some great comments from the judges.  The band received a rating of excellent and scores will be on the web site as soon as available.  Now the students have a week to work on some of the suggestions the judges gave to improve their individual and group performance.  Good job students as we work towards that superior rating and first place in class.  

We had a super group of parents on this last trip taking care of our students and all the little details that involve moving 100 or so people all in the same direction.  Please remind your student that directions are not only given for their safety but also for the well being of the group, and that each student is important to us and would like them to have the best experience they can and that involves listening to and remembering directions.

Remember this is pine straw season and congratulations to Emily Richardson for having the first pine straw check to be sent into the PO Box.  Delivery day is Saturday 10/22 so please block out the morning to help with this, many hands make light work.

Saturday 10/29 will be a all day mini band camp to prepare for State finals more details will follow soon.

Friday is an away game at Ridgeview so students should know who is going on the pep band trip on Friday, no Hi-Steppers will go.

Saturday is a Competition @ Olde English Festival of Bands 210 S. Cherry Road Rock Hill, SC Arrival time at Irmo High School is 7:30 AM (yes in the morning) with call time of 8:15 AM.  This is a prelims/finals format show much like our own Palmetto was two weeks ago.  The one difference will be that we do not know if we will make finals or not.  We always plan on making finals as we know our students are awesome, but just in case we will plan on both options happening. If we do not make finals we will return to Irmo at 8:45 PM on Saturday.   If (when) we make finals we will not return back to Irmo until 12:30 AM (yes in the morning) on Sunday.  Oh by the way we are looking for a few more chaperones for this wonderful work filled day, please email Tracy Skowronek.

Marching band season is in the home stretch now only 5 more weeks and 3 more competitions to go for this year, time does fly when your having fun.
